I realize I haven't been updating much here...I've been swamped with a few freelance jobs and haven't put much time into my own projects as I would like. I'm still working on the Cocoa illustration though it's on hold for now. In the mean time I'm making a quick Halloween picture that I should have up by the end of the week!
Most of the conceptual work I've been doing since August has been developing the story rather then the art and that stuff I won't be posting (don't want to give anything away after all!) But hopefully soon I'll have enough of the story worked out to actually start the writing and drafting process!

Mmm cocoa - more WIP
I'm working on an illustration of some of my characters, I'll have the six main people of the Minket's crew in it...here is some of the line art I have done, I'm doing each little group separately to give myself an easier time drawing out the details. Basically it'll be a big group pic of them at some sort of inn drinking cocoa. Yay cocoa!

More Sketches and WIP
Some more recent sketches, all from the past 3 months or so. I just took crappy pictures of them with my computer's camera so they're all sorts of messy and blurry. I was both too lazy and unable to use my scanner for varying reasons anyway so I thought this would do just fine.
Sketches out of my pirate notebook. I have this great little leather bound journal I got at Target sometime last year and I've been taking all sorts of notes and doing lots of little sketches in it. All pertain in some way to my comic in progress. I thought I'd share a few of them. Most notably is Andrew, the uptight and easily irritated young nobleman who isn't exactly happy to be on a ship...especially with annoying pirates! There is only one thing that makes it worthwhile for him and I'm not sharing it yet XP Also he has a pony tail...sort of... he's got really thick, curly hair and it's pulled back into a puff ball of sorts. Very well kept.

Concept Art
I put together a decent concept page for the character Oren, Bluu's older brother. He's a pirate and the captain of The Odysseus, a large steam powered behemoth class warship he stole years ago. Since I first came up with the idea for this character his personality has changed. Once he was rather goofy and fun but he's developed into a much more serious character. He has turned into a overbearing, overprotective, and rather arrogant older brother. In other words he's kind of a jerk and not someone Bluu looks forward to seeing. I think he fits the story a lot better this way and adds more development to Bluu's character.

Sketches!
I had all these old sketches stored away in a portfolio so I thought I'd scan them and get them up! All of these date back to 2008, the ones on white paper I drew at my old job.
This was the initial sketch I did for the first 'seven seas' vignette. I took out Bluu from the background, I felt it took away from the feel of it to have her there. Other than that the image stayed pretty true to the sketch.
This is Pete Doug. He's a tiny little raptor and Captain Drake's pet. He was named by my friend who was the inspiration for Drake.
I thought it'd be good to design some airship/steam technology. So far I haven't done much else with the concept though.
Sea Fruit. Aka fruit of different varieties that grow out on the oceans, good for keeping away scurvy!
Concept for a turtle based island. It'd be reasonably technologically advanced and probably not all that nice to anyone who wanted to leave it.
Random character Pepple! He's kinda fun to draw. I need to design more goofy side/background characters.

Tiny Preview
A small...no, very small...preview of something. I should have four more sets of eyes not too far from now (hopefully) which will include two boys this time. Might have some other minor sketches to share too, but it's late now and I don't feel like scanning stuff.
